TRACE CLOUD

Heidegger explains the discourse of ‘Language is the house of being’3 as ‘dasein’4 (German word means ‘being there’) which is defined as the self-consciousness of the being. Subjective and instant experiences are created for this being (dasein) who needs to define and explain emotions and situations in the use of language with words. For this being with self-consciousness, the moment (i.e. the instant experience) is embodied with the use of language.

While a visitor tour inside an exhibition, the experience is produced with visual and aural stimulations. "Art" is a subjective matter which can be perceived as own unique way. Therefore, all forms of interaction with the artwork and the interpretations created constitute the experience within this subjectivity.

The idea of ‘Trace Cloud’ has emerged from the idea of enhancing this experience by transforming the senses to the language. ‘Trace Cloud' is designed as a cognitive mapping output which is the understanding of how the exhibitions interact with the audience through the usage of language. ‘Trace Cloud’ is a medium where visitors can express traces of interaction with any artwork. Senses and emotions are visualized on a conceptual mapping with a ‘word’. It is expected that the visitor expresses the experience of the sensorial interaction with the artwork in a single word through the screens placed beside the artwork. The words are collected on

‘Trace Cloud’ interface, then they visualized as network mapping related to the artworks. At the end of the exhibition, there is a ‘Trace Cloud’ surface that the visitor can observe the word cloud for each artwork, and see the traces of other visitors alongside their own tracks.
